Description

Acting is fundamental in the performing arts, and the skills used by actors for storytelling is critical. In this class, students will work on beginning acting techniques through games, exercises, and scene work that will help them in all areas of performing arts. We will develop stage presence with memorization tips, character development studies, monologue selection and storytelling, along with basic theatrical movement instruction. These skills will teach you how to bring a character to life on stage and ace an audition!

This class will end with a showcase performance.

Michael Davis

Michael Davis is currently the Youth Pastor/Director of Services at Dominion Life Lake Charles and owns Telos Media Production. He is a singer, actor, dancer. His first musical was back in 2007 where he played Fredrick Fleet in Titanic: The musical in Texas. Michael was part of the Lee Theater Players in college where he was in productions such as Hamlet (King Claudius), The Man Who Came To Dinner (Ernest Stanley) Sweeney Todd (Anthony), Romeo and Juliet (Prince), and many others. He has played in multiple shows since then such as Sleuth (Andrew Wyke), Noises Off (Garry), Chicago (Chorus/Sgt. Haggerty), The Producers (Chorus), To Kill A Mockingbird (Tom Robinson), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd), Civil War Musical, Grease (Kenickie), and Rock of Ages (Stacy Jaxx), and many others. Michael has also performed with the Lake Charles Civic Ballet as a featured performer. He has also taught Hip Hop Hamlet Dance class in Spring 2019.
