Class Description

There is a common misconception that improvisation is a whimsical or lazy art form. Since improvisers don’t use costumes or scripts, it often seems that preparation does not have a place in improvisation. In reality, the role of the improviser is one of responsibility. No matter how much fun they seem to be having onstage, great improvisers are working TOGETHER while adhering to a clear set of guidelines. With techniques and exercises expertly taught by the founders of The Upright Citizens Brigade, this fast paced 2-hour workshop will help students develop the necessary skills to become a successful Short term AND Long term improviser.

Natalie Sell

Hi, I'm Natalie, your new Improv Coach! I was born and raised in Spring, TX. I am an alumnus of Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, where I graduated with a B.S. in Theatre and a minor in Writing. In Spring of 2016, I completed the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World, where I worked as a Character Attendant. I am so excited to be the new Improv Coach for CYT-LC, and to bring my experience and passion for theatre to my class AND our competitive team! I am so grateful to CYT for inviting me to work with them. I am in awe of all they do for this generation of performers!
