Description

Great acting starts with great reacting. In this beginner-friendly class, students will explore the fundamentals of acting with a special focus on active listening and truthful response—core tools for creating believable characters and compelling scenes. Through games, improvisation, and partner work, teens will learn to stay present, respond authentically, and connect with their scene partners. Whether you're brand new to the stage or looking to build confidence, this class creates a supportive space to grow in skill, creativity, and collaboration

Leslie Israel

Leslie is a proud CYT alumna with over 14 years of theater experience both on stage and behind the scenes. She recently graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Northwestern State University, where her favorite roles included Donna in Mamma Mia! and Julia in The Wedding Singer. Last summer, Leslie performed at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, as the Jolly Rancher ;Entertainment Host. This summer, she returned to CYT to direct Madagascar: A Musical Adventure JR, CYT Lake Charles’ first-ever Summer Stock production. With over 25 productions under her belt, Leslie is passionate about helping the next generation of performers grow in confidence and creativity. She believes every student has something valuable to offer and can’t wait to share her love for theater with your students!
