CYT Lake Charles shows are family-friendly and a fantastic way to introduce children to the performing arts!

Each year, CYT Lake Charles produces three Broadway-style musicals. Enrollment in CYT classes provides students (ages 8-18) the opportunity to audition for these productions.

  • Eligibility-Ages 8-18

  • Registration- You must be registered for the current class session (WINTER).

Audition Process:

  • Sign Up for an Audition Time Slot
    • Audition time slots open on Sunday at 3:00 PM.

    • Complete the Online Audition Form
      • After signing up for a time slot, you will be prompted with a link to our Junie B Jones Hub that will include your audition form for you to complete.
      • You do not need to print anything. We access these forms digitally.
  • Preparation:
    • Prepare a one-minute song and a one-minute memorized monologue.
    • See the bottom of this page for tips on choosing audition material
    • Complete the audition form (bottom of the page)
      • Must be sumitted at least 24 hours prior to your audition slot
  • Times and Location:
    • St Luke Simpson Methodist 1500 Country Club (not the class location)
    • Check your audition slot (either Thursday November 6 or Friday November 7)
  • Dance Audition (all):
    • Saturday November 8th- 9:00a-11:00a.
      • Auditoners will be divided into two time slots
      • You'll be notified of your call time for dance prior.
      • Slots are 9-10am OR 10- 11am
  • Callbacks by Invitation
    • An email will be sent after the dance auditions with a list of students called back for chemistry reads and specific character songs.
    • **Note** Not receiving a callback does NOT mean you aren't cast in the show.
    • Saturday November 9th at 1:00 p.m. (following dance auditions) and continue until completed.
  • ATTIRE:
    • First Audition Attire
      • Wear your Sunday best but be comfortable.
    • Dance Audition Attire
      • Wear workout clothes and closed-toe shoes for dancing (no Crocs or sandals).
        • If called for a tap callback , No character heels.
        • Flat jazz shoes, tap shoes or tennis shoes only.
    • Callback Attire
      • Same comfortable clothing as dance audition as there may be movement requirements. 
Parent Meeting:
  • Parent Meeting will be held Saturday November 15th. Specific time and info will be sent directly to cast and families. 
  • All cast members and at least one parent/guardian must attend.
  • Headshots will be take on the Saturday, so all cast members should wear black shirts and be dressed for photos for the show playbill.
Audition Tips:
  • Do not use songs from the show. Choose songs from other musicals.
  • Upload your audition music in MP3 format (not MP4) in the audition form.
  • First Audition Attire: Wear your Sunday best but be comfortable.
  • Dance Audition Attire: Wear workout clothes and closed-toe shoes for dancing (no Crocs or sandals).
  • Callback attire: same comfortable clothing as dance audition as there may be movement requirements. 
If Cast:
  • Pay the Production Fee of $250 (3 payments of $84 can be made through your family account; the first payment is due after casting).
  • Pick up your show script.
  • Attend the Parent Meeting.
